Donations For School Supplies
In light of everything that has happened in the world since the recent earthquake in Haiti, this is a very difficult email to write but it is necessary for All Things New.
On August 16, we had planned to send out an email asking for donations to help us get school supplies for our kids. On August 14, however, a devastating earthquake hit Haiti destroying homes and lives in its wake. Since then, there have been issues affecting thousands of Americans in Afghanistan and now there is a category 4 hurricane hitting the coast of Louisiana and Mississippi. We do not want this email to seem insensitive in light of those events.
For the past 9 years, we have asked for sponsors and supporters of All Things New to send us shoes, belts, backpacks, and all of the other school supplies that our kids need. You guys have responded every single year! Because of the current state of Haiti, we are currently unable to get supplies down to Haiti, so we have had to change our school planning and preparation process.
For 2021, we are asking for those donors who have helped us in the past or who have a desire to help our kids purchase these school supplies to give financially to ATN rather than giving supplies. We will use that money to purchase the shoes, belts, school supplies, hair products, uniforms, backpacks, we need in Haiti which will both help our kids and also stimulate the local economy that has suffered dramatically over the past few years.
As of now, school will start sometime between Sept. 13 and Oct. 4, so we are already working to get the supplies and uniforms that the kids need.
