EASTER

I wanted to put up a few blogs this week since we missed the last couple of weeks at One Spark and then on vacation, and I wanted to just write a quick blog about Easter.  Not about the holiday or the bunny or anything like that.  I just wanted to take some time to praise our Savior Jesus Christ for what He did for us on the Cross.  I just wanted to take a few minutes to encourage myself and anyone else who happens to read this that we have a living Savior.  It is so real, when we celebrate Easter, how completely undeserving I am of Jesus.  I have been reading through the book of John recently, and I keep reading about how Jesus is GOD, and how He holds the power of life and death and judgement in His hands.  I have to tell you, I clearly deserve judgement and death.  I sin against my Savior all of the time, I turn my back on Him constantly, and I live my life without Him way too often…And yet, there He is.  There is the Cross, right in front of me, constantly.  I read the beginning of the passage in Romans 12:1 where it says, “Therefore, brothers, in view of GOD’s mercy…”  And that is where I find myself, in view of GOD’s mercy, His grace, and His love.  I was teaching at Good News Club this past Monday, and I, unexpectedly, started talking about how we cannot enter Heaven without being perfect.  If we did, Heaven would cease to be perfect, and then GOD would cease to be GOD.  I thought about the perfection of Christ and the sacrifice that I needed.  I cannot make myself perfect.  I lost that ability the very first time I ever sinned.  I cannot go back and fix every thought and every action and every word that left me short of perfection.  I was dead, and there was nothing that I could do to become undead.  I was imperfect, and there was nothing I could do to become perfect.  I could live the rest of my life in absolute perfection and love of Jesus and I still wouldn’t be perfect and I still wouldn’t deserve Heaven.  But I have a Savior.  A Savior who covers everything and in Him I find righteousness, holiness, love, and even perfection!
