Having Teenagers Who Cannot Leave the House
One of the things that I know many of you are going through is being "stuck" inside your house with kids who get very restless very quickly. I want you to imagine what our 3 house moms are going through right now in Haiti.
When the Coronavirus was confirmed in Haiti, the President took action very quickly. If it spreads significantly there it could be a lot of trouble for a country that has experienced too much already. He instituted a curfew and told people not to gather in groups of more than 10. When we found out, we sent all of our employees home except for 3. Gina chose 3 house moms who could stay at the kids' house for the duration of the lockdown. I will write more about that next time, but today I want to focus on this:
If you are experiencing as much cabin fever as we are with our 3 kids, just think about those 3 house moms. Being stuck with 22 kids, 14 of which are teenagers, for an unspecified period of time. Think about them trying to get them to do their chores, keeping them from sneaking out of the gate, and trying to keep them occupied without being able to go out at all.
I can honestly say, as much as I love our kids, I am glad it is not me! We have already gotten some reports of kids trying to break rules and arguing about everything. I have talked to them all a few times and tried to get them to understand why they are doing what they are doing, but shockingly, reasoning with them does not work...
Anyway, add our kids and those house moms to your prayers. Also, this is my first attempt at trying to send our blog out via email. If you have a second, and let's be honest most of us do, please let me know that you received the email and let me know how it looks compared to how the old website used to send them out.
