Spiritual Needs

I have experienced something the past few weeks that I have just been able to put my finger on.  I have probably experienced it before, but living here for the past month I think it has become very evident to me.  I have become so aware of intense physical needs among people that live around me that I sometimes forget the spiritual needs that exist in each of us.  I get so focused on what I need to do to operate in a different country and culture that I can forget the greatness of the GOD who called us here and who has graciously allowed us to minister for Him.

I am not blaming this on working and ministering in a different country because this has happened and can happen any where.  In fact, when I think about it, I can remember times working as a Pastor that I would get so busy with what I “had” to do that day that I would completely forget about the GOD who I was serving.  I guess what I am saying is that it seems like this phenomenon could happen at any time and any place.  But how?

How can we have a GOD this spectacular and still forget about Him?

I memorized this passage out of Romans 8:31-39, and it is absolutely incredible.  How could I overlook a GOD who could pen this about His children (of which I am 1!!)

“What then shall we say in response to this?  If GOD is for us, who can be against us?  He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all – how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?…For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of GOD that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

How could I ever overlook the love, power, grace, mercy, etc., etc., etc. of this GOD?  This is my way of encouraging all of us, especially me, to never look past the love of our GOD and Savior.  Let’s face it, nothing else matters, and nothing else is worth anything without Him.  It truly does not matter how many people we help if those people do not know the love of our Savior, and it does not matter what we do if we are not doing for our GOD!
