The Support of Friends
We are getting ready to go back to Haiti on Monday, and we are really excited to see our kids and beginning the process of getting them into the school that we know is best for them. But as I was thinking about getting back to Haiti I began to also think about the process that we are in the middle of right now. We are trying to figure out the legal process of beginning a 501c3 organization in America, we will then need to figure out how to negotiate the legal system in Haiti, and while we are doing all of this we are trying to fundraise and make sure our physical needs and the needs of the kids are being taken care of adequately. It seems so daunting sometimes if we allow it to, but in the midst of this something else is happening…We have been given support and encouragement by so many people that we could never describe it. I am not just saying this either, GOD has used everyone of you (and countless others) to continually show us over and over again that He is with us and that He will use any measure possible to show us that.
I received an email the other day from one of my closest friends in college. We haven’t spoken since his wedding, but we are guys, so a lack of communication does not mean a lack of friendship. Actually, his wife sent me the email, and they stated their desire to come down to Haiti to serve with us. I also had lunch with 2 of my good friends here in Jacksonville yesterday both of whom are sponsoring kids at our orphanage and both of whom want to come down with us to Haiti sometime soon. We get encouraging messages on facebook, through email, and oftentimes in person as people continually express their love and support for this ministry. We have at least 3 churches (one of which is a Church of GOD in Bronson, FL that we have only visited once) that are praying for us and supporting us in incredible ways.
All of this is to say thank you. First of all, thank you to our Savior Jesus Christ who has laid this ministry on the hearts of so many people. But second of all, thank you to all of you who will read this and many who will not. You are being used by GOD to encourage the weak, feeble, pitiful hearts of 2 sinners who have been saved by the grace of Jesus Christ and who are trying to follow Him. And in our attempt to follow Him, you have come along side of us and are being used by GOD to increase this ministry and serve these beautiful children in Haiti. If you read this blog often, you will probably see many posts that are very similar to this one. I hope that you do not get tired of it because as I blog, this is one of the things that I am most thankful to GOD for – you.
It is also my prayer that as you encourage us and support us that you will be encouraged and brought closer to your Savior through this ministry. As GOD leads you to pray for us and support us, I pray that it brings you closer and closer to the GOD of the universe and the Savior of your soul. I hope that as you come closer to GOD that He leads you in ways that are surprising, difficult, and most of all life-changing in a way that you can say that your Savior is everything to you and that you will do whatever He asks always.
