Trip Update!

As many of you know, we just got back from a week long trip to Haiti with a team of 12.  This last trip was a blast!  We took my parents, Jessica’s parents, my sister and brother-in-law, Jared and Natalie Nobles, and Chase and Angela Covington.  We wanted to show our friends and family what Haiti was like, let them meet our kids, and show them where we would be living when we move down.  Sorry it has been so long since we posted, but now that we are back in the states, we will keep you guys up-to-date, and when we return again on January 14, we will be taking a computer so that we can make posts, put up pictures, etc.  This is a brief overview of what we did:

• We spent a lot of time with the children of All Things New!  We hung out with them, brought them Christmas gifts, stockings, toiletry bags, snacks, etc.  We even had a Christmas party where we brought coke and ice cream and the kids put on a play for us.  We taught them the Christmas story out of Luke and we did our best to show them the love of Christ!
• We spent 3 mornings at Pastor Herold’s Church which is also the church that we will attend when we first get down to Haiti.  There are a lot of children who do not get to eat on a regular basis, and we provided lunch each day, taught them Bible lessons, and gave each of the 300 kids who attended a present each day.  This was a blast and showed a different side of Haiti to the group.  On a side note, I drove a bus for the first time, and we took this bus to the church each morning.  It was a little scary at first, but I got the hang of it.
• We also took our group out to dinner and lunch at some local restaurants, showed them around Christianville (where we will be living initially), took them to the market in Leogane briefly, and showed them the land that we will hopefully purchase soon.  It was really good for us that our friends and family got to see and get the feel of the area where we will live.

The bottom line is that we had an awesome trip.  Our kids are doing wonderfully and some of the people that we love most in the world got to see our ministry firsthand and some for the first time.  It makes moving down much easier and more special now that they know where we will be.  

With that said, our hope is that everyone who is reading this will eventually make a trip down with us.  It is life-changing, a little difficult (or maybe a lot), and just plain fun.  I am hoping to get a few of the people who came to write a blog post about their trip to show what we did from their perspective, so be on the lookout!
